Thomas McTighe “Ty” Freyvogel
Ty Freyvogel is an Entrepreneur who has founded or transformed more than a dozen small and million-dollar enterprises over the course of his career. He is also an active investor who is constantly looking for new small businesses opportunities.
He started in business more than thirty years ago following his graduation from John Carroll University (JCU) in Cleveland. After a brief tour as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Transportation Corps he joined the family business, the John A. Freyvogel Funeral Home in Pittsburgh.
But, in the early 1970s he saw new opportunities in the impending deregulation of the communications industry. In response he founded a consulting firm to offer a variety of leading-edge telecommunications services to both small and large corporations. Over time, these businesses consolidated into Freyvogel Communications, Inc., which is still thriving three decades later.
In 1994, Ty completed The Entrepreneurial Management Program from the Carnegie Mellon University Graduate School of Industrial Administration, and has lent his talents to many organizations, among them the JCU Board of Regents, JCU Alumni Board of Trustees, Hiram College Board of Trustees, Catholic Cemetery Association Board of Trustee, Grove City College Entrepreneurship Advisory Council, Forbes Hospice and St. Scholastica Parish Council. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Association - Order of Knights and Dames of Malta.
Ty is the author of three books: Seize the Century, It's Not Your Smarts: It's Your Schmooze and Smarts, Guts & Luck: Straight Talk for Entrepreneurs.

His articles are regularly quoted and reprinted in numerous national publications, including: Entrepreneur, BusinessWeek, the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Boston Globe, MSNBC, American Management Association, the Boston Herald, and many others. He writes a monthly column for an International British Magazine, The Leader World. In his spare time Ty enjoys playing golf, off-road bicycling, skiing, reading and traveling. He resides in Fox Chapel, Pennsylvania with his wife Katherine. They are the parents of seven and the grandparents of eight.
